Manhattan Institute for Psychoanalysis

Co-Directors Report 2010-2011

  • The Institute's clinical services remain active and flourishing, and include an expansion of referral sources.
  • Our Trauma Treatment Center's educational component is being offered as a full-year course this year for the second academic year. Currently we have 7 students registered and registration is still in progress.
  • Our Colloquia in the past year were quite successful, and we have another exciting series planned for the coming year, to be held in the collegial setting of NYU's Kimmel Hall.
  • Financially, while times remain challenging as economies struggle with the global downturn, our fundraising continues to successfully support our financial balance.
  • The LGBTQ Initiative continues to be an active presence in the Institute, with regularly scheduled events.
  • Our application to New York State for certification to begin a Licensed Qualifying Psychoanalyst Program is in its final stages of preparation, and is expected to be ready for submission imminently.

In sum, the Institute continues in all of its activities, most importantly, the teaching and training of our candidates, and the provision of psychoanalytic and psychotherapeutic services to the New York City community.
